Not a very romantic topic, but I think it's worth thinking about. Here are a few that I can remember: John Yablonski Earl Wiggins Tobin Sorenson Derek Hersey Dan Osman Rick Cashner James Lucas John Bachar Alain Robert

I know very little about Earl Wiggins, but I read that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Did he have cancer?

In reply to: Alain Robert ? When? no, he's not dead, but the OP did include "soloists who've been injured" in his criterion list. IMO that pretty much includes any climber that has ever soloed, since I know very few climbers who have never been injured. Kinda makes the list pointless too!

Talk about a stupid inappropriate thread. It seems to be based on the premise that you have to be insane to be a good climber. WTF.

WOWIE!!!! What ridiculous topic...... Well...HERE'S a Few people who were "soloists, but later Died".... Hannibal (the one who crossed the alps, dimwits) Johnny Muir Ansel Adams Fred Becky...Is he finally dead yet???? Tenzing Norgay Sir Edmund Hillary Chris Bonnington Warren Harding JEEEEEZ....ALL those guys DIED after having gone Soloing...... MOst of them of course, died of normal, natural causes, though.....ALthough Harding's demise was somewhat self inflicted....70 years of serious alcohol abuse...... I guess This means that if you SOLO, YOU"RE GONNA DIE........Teeehee tehhheeee HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR

Sorry, I thought it was obvious. Forum titles need to be short - it should have read "Soloists who have died or fallen and been injured WHILE soloing.
