I'm actually going Mountain Biking with my family near Brevard. But, there's no way I'm going without doing some climbing. I need to know which book to buy. "Climber's Guide to North Carolina" by Kelly or "Selected Climbs in North Carolina" by Lambert &Shull. I'm hoping to go to Rumbling Bald. I looked this question in the history and no one gave a good clear answer. Thank You

If you're going to the Bald then you have to buy Lambert's, mainly because it wasn't included in the Kelley guide. I personally think the Lambert guide gives better descriptions of routes which is why I like it more. I don't own the Kelley guide, but have used one. The Kelley guide book is more on quantity where the Lambert guide is more on quality. Hope that helps.

Nice post cutiger. Accurate assessment of the two books. Rockinrobby, You may want to reconsider going to Rumbling. It's basically a cool weather cliff. Most of the routes get direct sunlight all day. It could get pretty toasty, but I think the bouldering is still good, this time of year. Looking Glass is where you need to be. The Nose area stays in the shade all morning. The routes left of the Nose ,i.e. Dum Dee Dum Dum (5.10), stay in the shade most of the day. The north side is shady all day. Avoid the South Face and the Sun Wall. You'll bake.
