On Monday, July 8th, I was in Tuolomne Meadows and witnessed the rescue of a climber who had fallen from the Chimney Section of Cathedral Peak. He had fallen 40 feet and landed on his face. I saw multiple compound fractures but he is probably going to survive, although pretty mangled. None of the SAR team I talked to knew why he fell. They said the section he fell on people sometimes get overconfident and start to hurry. Just be careful...even on "easy" stuff, the unexpected can happen. I hope I never see injuries like that on a climber again.

Thanks for the post, jm. I did Cathderal Peak SE Buttress in June right after I messed up my hands on Lurking Fear; it is good to know that even on "easy" climbs, one can have an accident.
