gee, thats odd, because in yosemite (where the YDS grading system came to life) the boulders are rated in the V scale...

In reply to: In reply to: in yosemite (where the YDS grading system came to life) YDS started at Tahquitz. was wondering how long is was going to take for someone to bring that one up :D Also, in case you haven't noticed, the climbing at Santee is extremely un-bouldery and a lot more like thin face route climbing, which is why a lot of people feel the YDS grades make a lot more sense.

In reply to: gee, thats odd, because in yosemite (where the YDS grading system came to life) the boulders are rated in the V scale... They were rated in YDS before the V scale existed. Someone took it upon themselves to write a new guidebook with all the grades in the V system instead of YDS. No one has done that yet at Santee.

oh yah, I forgot the YDS system DERIVED from the sierra rock climbing rating system but yes, I figured that it was just that no one had converted grades..
