That's a pretty tall order, Ike. I was there the whole time judging, and only know a few sporadic results.

Full results should be up on the USA Climbing site soon; I will post a link when they appear.

A few random 1st place winners:

Zeb Enberg
Daniel Woods
Andrea Szekely

Vasya but on a speed show that all the juiced up track "stars" would not have come any where near...

All the exitement was on the speed routes not the "don't make a mistake" boring difficulty routes.

edge,
yeah, i realized it was pretty tough.. i didn't expect anyone to have memorized the entire ranking. I'm just curious how my bros did, since this is my first time not there in the last few years. (too old for juniors now.) I'll check the USAC sight.

younggun,
interesting perspective, as I've always found speed to be the boring pursuit and difficulty the ultimate pursuit.

cheers all,
Ike

I think you can attribute that to the Category Judge for speed climbing. You know, the dashing fellow in the red shirt who I see every time I look in a mirror...

Although I do agree with Ike, speed climbing is only now just getting to the point where competitors are taking it seriously. For the most part, past years speed climbers were just naturally fast, but now it is obvious who trains specifically for speed. Watching someone like Vasya, who dusted well over a second off the time of the next fastest climber, just shows how far many people need to progress even still.

I personally prefer the difficulty, and find that watching/judging that to be fascinating. The variety of moves that people will try to unlock a sequence make it a true vertical chess game.
