I've never been to Jacks Canyon, Arizona, and am thinking about heading up there in the next couple of months. I don't do great on the 'sharp end,' and so I would prefer to toprope the area before leading it. Are the routes at Jacks Canyon able to be toproped, or are they only accesible by lead? Thanks, -Rod

I guess in theory you could get to the top of SOME routes but doing so would be more dangerous than leading them :) That being said I cannot recall any route that can be top roped without someone leading it. Two words for you, ROPE GUN :) Rick

Yeah... lead only really, but there are several blocks of routes (the Mickey et. al. area comes to mind) where you can lead one then bump across a ledge system to access other anchors. Just be careful. Oh, and a little A0 with a stick clip never hurt anybody who wanted a TR either ;)
