Hey everyone. I went on a roadtrip to alaska this summer and i got into climbing along the way. I have only been climbing for a couple months and almost all of it has been outdoors. I am going to stoneworks tonight to boulder. Is anyone from this site gonna be there? Since there isn't much outdoor stuff around dallas, then most of my climbing will be indoors :(. I would like to do climbing other than bouldering so if anyone is interested let me know. I have a pretty flexible schedule until school starts and i would like to go to mineral wells or austin b4 the fall semester starts, but i will need a partner.

Plano is a long way from Exposure. And you plan on climbing there three times a week?

You got into climbing in Alaska this summer? Haha, how did THAT happen? This summer has sucked, weather-wise! I'm interested in the more detailed story!

I see you changed your profile location from Plano to Dallas. A little closer to Exposure.

We were on our way to alaska when i saw some people climbing in Moab, UT. I talked to them a bit and it looked like alot of fun. We stopped in Grand Junction, Colorado to see sme family, and i went to an indoor gym. I was hooked from that day on. I went to REI the next day and blew all my money on gear. I climbed everywhere i could from then on. On the way up we stopped in utah, wyoming, montana, idaho, washington, and British Columbia. We didn't climb very much at all in alaska. There was a surprisingly small amount of climbing there.

I’m planning a trip to Mineral Wells soon. If I can find people to actually participate. Easy top rope stuff. I have all the gear for anchors plus ropes and stuff. I’ll start a new thread in the South section sometime next week if you would like to go. I’ll PM you my number.

Haha yeah I didn't really see how someone would get into climbing because they came here. Moab is much more likely for that. There's climbing here alright, but it's largely undeveloped and remote, so you don't bump into it unless you mean to climb it. Awesome way to start though! Welcome to the sport. :D
