its too blasted hot to climb in j tree right now. unless you enjoy burning your hands on 110+ degree rock on 115 degree days then its not enjoyable. try high sierras somewhere.

Definitely too hot.
Last weekend's high was...

http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/queryF?s=LTH&d=24-Jul-2005+23:07&span=48hours

Huh... interesting. 88 on Saturday and 84 on Sunday.

So long as you don't mind a little afternoon thunder shower to cool you off. The rock takes maybe 15 min. of sun to dry off.

It'll probably be back up to the triple digits again this weekend though. I guess y'all missed your chance.

hey jake, when jtree cools down in couple months, you guys are welcome to climb with me anytime, if you like. we can see what works. i'm out there both days of most weekends. for now, if you want to climb in a less oven-like setting, i know some spots

If you are still stuck in the "stumps" when it cools down, we meet up at Nomad's about 8:00 every Saturday.

I'm moving to la Quinta and am super stoked about being so close to jtree. however have very little experience just some indoor climbing and nill on the gear except for a chalk bag. i was wondering if i could come watch and pick up some tips some time. I'm moving on the 1st of sept. like i said, I'm just a beginner and understand if you don't want the dead weight. (side note) fellow jarheads. thanks for a fine job.

Phuck “Joshua Tree”!!!

What a freakin’ choss pile….

It’s too blazing hot in the summer…and too damned cold in the winter.

It “boasts” of a few routes…but none of them are over 30’ tall. And any geologist will tell you that quartz monzonite is extremely fragile and will shatter under body weight.

Only idiots go to that place these days.

With its tour buses full of loud, obnoxious knuckleheads…boombox infested campsites…not to mention the “fee” for admission. What a JOKE!

That place blows goats…as does anyone who finds it worth visiting.

Most of the people who go there are either into the whole “let’s visit every nat’l park on the planet” or boy scouts.

Heed my warning…save your money…it’s so not worth it.

Best to go to Rubidoux…Big Rock…or Ortega Falls.

Um, "Right On" is 510' (4 pitches) and I could go on...

That'd explain why there are pics of you on Intersection Rock, Headstone, Wonderland of Rocks, etc. on your profile...

Keeps the rif raff out. Now that it's a national park, it is no longer a sh*thole.

Oh, excuse me. Ignore this post, because I must blow goats as I find Joshua Tree worth visiting for tons of reasons, only one of which is to climb.

Yep. To hang out with this nice fella...

No you couldn't...Right On is the only climb over 40’ in the park…and it’s not 4 pitches…it’s barely 2…and neither of those is worth putting a harness on for!

You’ve been climbing…what? About a year?
You weren’t around when it wasn’t a Nat’l Park

Have you even bothered to check out the fantastic 5.6's and .7's at Williamson? Or Mt. Woodson?
I mean c'mon...even that big hunk of rock in Idyllwild beats that pile o' pebbles in joshua tree!

Ok...what tipped you off? The suggestion to climb at OF over JT?
...or the PM? I'm thinking it's a case of one neuron short of a synapse. I mean the wheel was turning, but the hampster's dead.

LoL

Again, I declare Joshua Tree a war-zone...unfit for even the lowest of the low!! Why do you think 29 stumps is so close? Where else would you put a base for Navywannabe's?!

The park rangers are mutants...
The campsites are always full...
The guidebooks are dangerous...
There's sharp pokey things everywhere...
It's either too hot or too cold
The rock's chossy
The few routes that are there are shite

You'd be a lot better off making a run to the incredible climbing at Corona del Mar!! Now THAT place ROCKS!! Woo hoo!!

Hit me up if you need the beta!
