I was drunk in Arco Saturday night and than I had to drive to Passo S.Giovanni with a drunk girldrifter in my car. Is this scary enough?

i'm not sure heiko would find that scary, given the way he drives up/down passes in the dolomites. i got car-sick for the first time in my life on the way up to sasso pordoi.

BMWs require proper handling. If you drive too slowly, they will not function.

I'm disappointed. You see Paolo, the women only need us if they want to learn trad or need a ride somewhere. After that, they poo on us at look at other guys.

Hi folks!

gd, good job!

heiko, gotta disappoint you, no climbing last weekend. Gotta join the wedding of my step-brother. But...

I started off late on my hike to the first base camp in Duisburg, where I was picked up by the sherpas (i.e. my two brothers and my father). They were late too as they got off route on the approach so we knew we couldn't get two the 2nd camp in save time (we missed the ceremony by far... embarrassing enough...). This forced is into a decent ice rain on the glacier passage (meeting my step mother) we luckily survived without crucial damage.

After a little recreation we packed our day packs to get up to the summit, which we had to climb quite fast to avoid darkness. The wind was hauling and scared us to the bone (the dj was extraterrestrial bad) and only strong medication (alcolol in unbelievable ammounts provided in form of beer, champagne, wiskey cola, Kümmerling, Feigling and other liquors) could make us stand the inhospitable surroundings.

I refrain from talking about the uncomfortable descent, the nasty injuries and the hard recovery from the trip... you might imagine the worst and it isn't bad enough...

So long,

- Daniel

Some idiot decided to close two of three lanes on the Autobahn. Traffic jam, took us an hour to get past an 8km construction...

Daniel,
That was the best alpine/wedding report, ever! I'll bet your new sister-in-law is looking forward to a looooong life of "ice storms" And nice to know somebody else was boozing. Believe me, my descent injuries were probably worse... they involved a toilet, (later) a wastebasket, and (much later) a death wish.

Paolo,
All Italians look sexy after 4 liters of wine. Even you [cough cough, sputter, sputter]. [thank goodness we're in Fonti this weekend]

Heiko,
I can only wonder how much wine Beth must be drinking!

Oh no, don't get me wrong, my stepmother is fine. At least compared to my new sister-in-law... Can't imagine any cause to marry that crabface...

Oooops... Sounds bad! I felt halfways okay next day - thanks to the tons of food and my decision to sleep in fresh air on the balcony.

So you did trad leading... Did you do multi pitch or was it 'just' a single?
I started placing pro two months ago, but only single pitches 'cause I never learned to build an anchor out of nothing. Just about to get the John Long's anchor books. Till then I just reduce bolt spacing on runouts (did I mention I'm a complete chicken on lead?).

i hear you about "being chicken on lead". during my first and only trad lead so far, i took at least 40 minutes to lead one pitch and i only had to place two cams in addition to clipping a few pitons. oh, and the anchor was bolted too. (i'm not even sure i can really call it a trad lead....) still, i was sweating so much from nerves that i actually had it dripping off of me. thank goodness the guys waiting below were patient.

While you were shaking, p. and r. had tied you to a tree and had left for lunch. They just returned before you clipped into your 2nd bit.
