Post your pics and specs here! I'm in the process of building mine, but would like some ideas. I got the ok from the missus to convert our 10' x 12' dining room into a home wall. I am thinking about two angles, probably a 45 degree and something more vertical all converging into a roof. I've done plenty of research but still would like some ideas. I am also an engineering student so designing and building this will come of no problem to me. Can't wait to get out of Florida and get back home in the north and do some real climbing!!!

A good start is:
one verticle section
one slight overhang (60-80 degrees[from])
one heavy overhang (20-40 degrees[from])
one roof/horizontal(not real good for training but lots of fun)
Framing Knowledge to incroporate all these into a single wall

Thanks for the links Climberdude, but I've actually been to those websites before, and about a hundred others. I was just hoping that some users would post pics of their own walls so I could see even more. I guess you could say I'm trying to build an extremely large database of homewalls. Just for ideas really, but I want my wall to be the most effective for my training as possible, and I don't have the money for trial and error either. Again, thanks for the help though!

me and my friend are building a wall on his attic. its will be about 5m tall. were going to build (for the start): a verticval face, a little complicated overhang (overhang-roof-overhang) and put a roof on top of it. ill post the pics ASAP.

A small tip:

Avoid vertical walls. They get really boring really fast and don't do much for training. If you can only do one angle then the best is something from 15º to 30º overhanging. This will work your power and technique the most efficiently.

Lostangel: Another website that I found usefull was http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Trails/9640/
This guy hasn't updated his site for awhile, but has a database of home walls plus some good links, although none are new to the forum I believe. He also has a how-to section, which is ok. Hope this helps some.

http://www.morganicclimbing.com/HomeGym.asp

It’s about 1/3 finished so don't be too critical but it’s still a blast. Plus I made about 90% of the holds which was fun. What an obsession. It is in my attic which is on a 45 degree angle (like a big witch’s hat). It took very little framework. I just slapped on some plywood (most of which was free from construction sites). The house is 112 years old and 2 ½ stories. Good use of an unused attic if I do say so myself. I still have lots of ideas including 3 cracks and some more vert. I plan on finishing it with about 5-10 layers of carpet padding and carpet then some track lighting and a nice stereo and we should be set. It has turned into quit the hangout.

My wall will be a 45degree overhang on the right with the top foot vertical. the sides will be vertical with holds. to the left it will have a vertical wall seperated from the overhang by a crack that i can do a fist jam in or a layback. its going to be about 12 ft. tall when completed.

A wall I used to climb at until we took it down had a vert section at top. You could probably get more use if you make your vert section at the top at least 18in, but a foot would still work. I would also recommend a small footer on the 45 degree section. I will post my pics up here real soon.

My wall is almost done. All I have left to do is finish putting the plywood on. I will post some specs and pics in a week maybe. Also if you want holds, go to www.ottsix.com. Ottsix has great bargains, just e-mail them for more info.

Dude didn't say post a link to your pics...

Hehe

It's a crappy little wall, but I am in way better climbing shape and am less prone to injury.

If anyone wants to know how to do that pic thing PM me. Site needs more pics.

Looks like fun. What did you put on the plywood? Regular paint or texture?

if you mount your wall with chains attached to eyelet screws, you can adjust the pitch of the wall by taking up or letting out the chain.

morganicclimbing I put regular paint on, and then sprinkled sand all over it. Then I did another coat so the sand wouldn't come off.
