I was climbing with this really cool old guy, and while he climbed he kept mumbling this little rhyme: "No mistake or big pancake, edging skills or hospital bills, fire or retire..." I knew at least a few of these have become route names, but he informed me that it was something they had made up in camp four much earlier... So, I was just curious as to whether or not any of you guys knew the rest of this rhyme. (I remember something about finger stacks...) -Thanks, Daniel

In reply to: "No mistake or big pancake, edging skills or hospital bills, fire or retire..." "Finger Stacks or Plastic Sacks", Make That Move or Six Foot Groove" All are J Tree Route names.

I put up a route once that I called Lose Yer Stance, Sh*itcher Pants. Was a play on the classic rhymes from the JTree routes.

Some of these are spread out in yosemite as well, edging skills or hospital bills is a 5.10a X in yosemite. I just checked and found fingerstack or plastic sack as well as fingerlocks or cedar box at Jtree, but i don't think those were part of it... thanks for the input though.

Underclings or angel wings... I remember seeing a list like this either in "Games Climbers Play" (the book, named after the essay), or in an old Off Belay Magazine in the late 70's.
