A couple of SLC climbers are road trippin it to the red and the new the weekend of Aug 19-23. How is the weather? Is it too hot/humid to climb? Too hot/humid at night to camp? Any suggestions on Cheap places to stay would be appreciated. Thanks

Climbable for sure. Might be a little bit humid but not bad if you chase the shade. I will be out there Thursday til Sunday.

Miguels is $2.00 per person per night. Pretty cheap.

Stop by Red river Outdoors for breakfast and free internet.

check out www.redriverclimbing.com for more beta and the online guide book.

If you've only got 4 days, I'd stick with one or the other - the Red or the New. They are both pretty big places! And very different in terms of climbing.

I can't say for the Red, but it is possible to climb at the New in the heat and humidity, but I'd stick to certain places. Of course Summersville is all the rage.

Places to stay at the New - Rogers (by Kaymoor, it's in the guidebooks) or Chestnut (right off 19, the first road on the right after the tourist center after you cross the bridge going north).
