Talk about the wrong time to have your gear gone.

You would think that this intrinsic human feeling called "sympathy" would dissuade climbers from taking other climbers' gear or something. I guess those thieves are either non-climbers or non-human - maybe both.

I hate people that steal gear. I just had my car broken into last week and someone stole my MP3 player. Maybe they could plant an ice axe in a tent filled with plastic explosive in the handle that can be detonated by satellite phone. That might discourage thieves.

I think a mountaineering ice axe would make an awesome pipe bomb, especially a large hollow 80cm Trango mountain axe. Not to mention the nasty shrapnel that would cause.

Or the ensuing avalanche.

Gutted for the climbers

The worst thing about it is once they get back to Skardu, all their stolen gear will be in the shops for sale.

Maybe...............its what the jesus folk refer to as a..."blessing in disguise" [insert]. Maybe they all would have died in some tragic something or other.

Gear is replaceable, those happy faces are not.
