I am a climber from orlando florida. I currently go to UCF. I have been outdoors climbing only 2-3 times. Sad I know. However both times when I went up to HP40 our group has always had some for of motto during the whole trip. You know a saaying to try to help someone finish the route they are on. The First time it was "squeeze and levitate" when ever someone asked what next that was the answer. Then when I went back a few weeks ago during the crux of the route some always shouted at the climber "FINISH THE ROCK CLIMB" and it always got big laughs and a few times the climber peeled off from laughing. I was just wondering what mottos you guys have when out climbing if you have any.

"Peeing your Pranas in front of a group of hotties will ruin your day." Something I keep in mind at all times.

Taken from a nice group of climbers at the crag with us one day: "You need to get your $hit together" Now I use it whenever someone has any sort of trouble whatsoever. I thinks it kinda fun. It's actually very usefull sometimes, like when I'm leading and getting scared or tunnel vision...

We use "visualize and execute", just a dumb-ass saying we made up. There is a nice little dance that goes along with it, but I'll save that for another time.

mgb took mine... but other personal favorites are: one for a climbing shop (that i think pagan uses) : 'from micronuts to big bros we have all your protection needs covered', and another from the 'creek: 'suck it up and stick it in!' (for day three on a long weekend for all the crack newbies unused to thrusting hands into 120 grit for days on end) a freind also passed on my all time fav: 'Positive Thinking". if you know Scotty you've seen that he's serious

“Get UP this thing!!” “Rock over and stand up” “Goddamnit Pyle!! If God wanted you up this route…He would have miracled your ass up there by now!” “Put on your big girl panties and suck it princess” “Yooooouuu can doooo eeeeettt!” “Summon the spirits of the ancients…” (Followed by screams of the Samurai) We have a blast when we climb…and there’s really nothing more enjoyable than heckling the freaked out leader.

In reply to: When climbing stemming intensive routes: Spread your legs and trust the rubber That is also the JTree motto. My personal one is "The key to climbing is to climb up" with the usual response "STFU" :D

If you can't tie the knot, tie a lot. All balls, no nuts. Also I can't believe no one has come up with: When in doubt, run it out. (Which comes in the ski/snowboard version: when in doubt, air it out.) And from Bridwell and Stumps before the Mooses Tooth: Conquest or Death.
