Just got mine yesterday and It rocks! It absolutely outshines any other headlamp that I own and I just wish they would have produced it sooner. A little pricey ($49.95), but a good investment if you use a headlamp frequently. Could double as a headlight on my truck with a little creativity with some duct tape. :P

Ditto: don't know why anyone would buy a different headlamp. You could carry a spare set of batteries for the weight you save over anything else that's this bright. Love the diffuser, too. Perfect for reading and cooking. Nice job, Petzl. Mal

Since I haven't seen one in person yet, I had a couple little questions... How stable is it? I know it's a little heavier than my regular Tikka and I was wondering if it would flop all over when running down rocky trails. Also, are all the little buttons on it easy to press? They seem kinda small and plasticky in the photos...

The buttons are rubberized for waterproofness (down to 1 meter, so no diving) and they work great. The stability is not an issue for running or biking. It is very comparable to the original Tikka except get ready for some unbelievable light output. If your like me, you'll never pick up your Tikka again.

just played around with one today in the local gear shop and I must say there is now little reason for me to spend the extra $20 on the myo xp. The tika xp has almost all the same specs for cheaper, and is more compact.

The Myo is way brighter than the Tikka. It's awesome if you need it. I use mine bike riding at night... Mal

In reply to: The Myo is way brighter than the Tikka. It's awesome if you need it. I use mine bike riding at night... Mal I looked at all of them at the store, and I actually preferred the BD Zenix IQ over the rest... (Fewer batteries, lighter & plenty bright.) I wasn't too keen on the flip-down diffuser on the Myo XP for some reason. How is it in practice?

I wasn't too keen on the flip-down diffuser on the Myo XP for some reason. How is it in practice? A lot more useful than you would think. I stuck a set of lithiums in my Myo, weighed it, and for 5.5 ounces I have never ever seen anything that can dump out as much light per ounce as it can. The diffuser surrounds you with a fairly even light across your field of vision, which sounds mundane but I find very useful on predawn approaches. I have an older Zenix as well, it is a nice headlamp and my wife and I still use it on car trips for reading maps etc. without distracting the driver, but it does not produce the candlepower that the Myo does. I don't care for the way Petzl has arranged the on/off switch and boost switch on the Myo, but that is my only major complaint; it is a lightweight, bright headlamp that illuminates a wide area and seems to last a very long time on a set of batteries. It is not noticeably dimmer than older halogen headlamps I've had when set on full blast, although I do often use it at the lowest setting. I would guess that I use the diffuser probably 90% of the time.

All I know is that I comfortable with the Myo XP when riding at night and I feel sketched when using the Tikka XP. That fits my definition of WAY brighter but maybe not yours. It seems that I read sonewhere that the Myo was a 3 watt bulb and the Tikka was a 1 watt. Can't find that info on the Petzl website, though. BTW, I use the Tikka way more than the Myo just because it's small and light and doesn't have a battery pack on the back. I also find the Myo buttons a bit fiddly. When I go for a ride, though, I strap on the Myo. Mal

In reply to: strap on the Myo. Ohh!... Is that what the line was from that movie? I knew I heard it wrong! I always thought it was "nitro," but that just didn't make any sense... Now I can sleep at night!
