Did you know that the slave turned gladiator Spartacus won his first decisive battle against the Romans by using climbing techniques?

His army was beseiged on the top of Mt Vesuvius (before it blew up) by the Romans, so they climbed and rappeled down the back of the mountain, circled around and trashed the Romans from behind.
