To those of you who have done both, or either, which route would you recommend?

lowe route - one of the absolute best 5.8s on the planet. open book looks like a lot of groveling. for bonus points on the lowe route walk way the hell out on the ledge and do pika's paradise. if it was in LCC, there would be a line every day. do the good pitch and rap, and then do the lowe route.

atg200 is right. I actually did Open Book a dozen or so years ago and I don't have any BAD memories of the route. In fact, I can't hardly remember anything about the route at all. Which is exactly why you should do the Lowe route if you're forced to make a choice.

atg is right. Open Book is good; however, the Lowe Route is definitely one of the best routes I have ever done. Pika Paradise is good too, I happen to have done the FA of that about 25 years ago...

nice gary - pika's paradise is so lovely. we actually did the crappy second pitch too and went to the lone peak summit to turn it into a mountaineering route :)

Both great, do more. In fact, anything up there needs your attention. Triple Overhangs was fun, Vertical Smile made us smile, but the Lowe Rt. should be your first workout, a way to blow the dust off after the hike. You'll be in the sun in the afternoon (if it's not winter.) Watch for the rattlers on the way in. Live it up.
