I'd like some feedback from people who have a horizontal or roof section on there home wall? I'm deciding whether to spend the extra money for this. Do you find it very useful for training? Does it stay interesting? Would you recommend it? I know this may have been said a couple of times but I'm looking for more insight before building. Thanks

It seems like a good idea so you can build back, shoulders, core, and fingers! You can't do that on a vertical wall.

A roof would be good, but 10x10 or 12x12 wall 45-60 degrees beyond vertical is ideal for training. You can use a greater variety of holds (not just jugs). You are also forced to pull more through moves, as opposed roll through them with straight arms.

if you have room to spare or really cant put anything more usefull in, than do it. its fun, but not optimal for training.

What is the area you're putting the wall in at? projected size of wall?

If you have plenty space, go for it, just don't build a roof for the sake of having one. I think the ideal training wall is concave 8-10x12-16. overhanging about 45 degrees maybe a littel less

Depending on your space, I think do it, if your available space is not that great, consider an adjustable angle one.

I am about to put in a horizontal roof, and have just completed a vertical traverse and an adjustable woody too! It's hinged at the top and can be winched from vertical to almost horizontal.

Its easy enough to add more horizontal for me though, just need to fix ply to my ceiling beams.

Thanks for all the advice. One more question though, is eight feet too high for a roof section(ceiling)? There is a lot of space for it but I don't know if this is too high?

Other than being completely illogical and utterly false, good point.

Roof climbing is fun and a good idea if you have room, but I wouldn't take a roof instead of 30-45 degree terrain, only in addition to.

Also too many people have too many concave sections and inside corners which lead to stemming and making things easier, go for convex curves and not too many stemming corners to force harder climbing.
