I am moving to Santa Barbara and I am looking for sport climbing in the area. My home crag is the Red river Gorge so I am use to long 65-100ft very overhung routes. Is there anything like this in the area or within a few hours? I don't really top rope anything. I don't really know how to set up anchors safely. I lead up to easy 5.11s.

Thanks

Silly rock has hard, overhanging sport...its about 1.5 hours North of SB.

The Playground off Camino Cielo road has overhanging sport....but the routes are shorter...maybe 30-40 feet high.

How do you bring up your partner without an anchor?

It's a bit of a drive south for you, and some have accused it of being chossy. But if long and overhung are what you are looking for, maybe a trip to echo cliffs:

At the Red there are bolts and chains for anchors on the face to lower or rap off. The only routes that top out are a few trad routes and no multipitch sport.

I do love trad but I am a very novice leader with no rack. Bouldering is fun but quite humbling for a routes only climber.

So I just got here in Santa barbara and don't know anyone or have anyone to climb with. I do have all my own gear. Would someone mind taking me out or let me tag along and showing me around the climbing and bouldering areas. One free lead fall and soft catch on my rope!

Thanks
Courtney
