Hi all. I was just wondering, as a combination of saving money and enjoying a bit of do-it-yourself-ism, if anyone knew where I could get my hands on sewing patterns for climbing pants.
Nothing too major required, as long as there's that ever important gusseted crotch.
If you have stories to share about this, even better.
Thanks.

Good idea, sewing's actually pretty fun... well I think it is anyways. Go to a fabric store and pick out a pattern that is close to what you have in mind and then just modify it. Or you can make your own patterns from newspaper. I did this with my favorite pair of Pra....uhh...'name brand' climbing shorts. That's a little bit tricky though. Have you made garments before? Pockets are tricky, well they are for me at least, I can never get them to lay flat. But for climbing shorts I just omit them. I also use a flat elastic waistband. And the gusset's easy. Good luck!

Thanks.
I don't sew, but my gf does. And she suggested the same thing, that I give up a pair a pants/shorts so she can copy the design. I was thinking she could show me how it's done for the first pair, and then I could make my own.
I was thinking of either going for the wide elastic band or perhaps doing it yoga-pant style, i.e. a couple inches of loose fabric at the top with a string closure.
And to devkrev: the gussetted crotch is that trapezoidal fabric at the inseam.

Here is a link to the Controlled Exposure web site

Also, Google for the mountain pants and there are many fabric stores that offer the pattern
