Anyone have any comments or experience with the BD Alaska pick for the Cobras? Specifically, for alpine climbing, self arrest, etc.

Do they still make 'em? I like them a lot...they are great for what they were designed for, and I have actually used them in Alaska. The standard recurve pick is actually pretty bad at snow, so if you're not climbing vertical water ice, the Alaska pick is a great compromise.

Kinda negates any advantage in having a delicately-weighted reverse-curve carbon-fiber ice tool... ...but yeah, it works fine.

Thanks for the info. They are making the Alaska picks again so I think I'll try them for alpine climbing.
