Hey All, Has any of you been up to Pine Mtn in the Los Padres. Is the bouldering worthwhile? I am hoping to head up there this week and any beta would be appreciated.

ummm pine mountain is probably the best combination of setting and quantity of good climbing i've seen near los angeles, aside from joshua tree and (though i've never been there) bishop. definitely worth the trip. Even some stuff that's yet to be climbed. I'm not sure where to get the guide book for it though. Just loads of good climbing! Oh and beware, your fingers will wear off quickly. The sandstone is pretty rough. [ This Message was edited by: collegekid on 2002-08-06 23:37 ]

In a few words, Pine Mt reminded me of Fontainbleau with nice, soft pine needle landings. Lots of stuff to check out there, great, free camping, cool views, but beware of the biting, black flies.

The place is rad! And, a nice escape from the heat of Southern California. As for a guide, check out "Rock Climbing Santa Barbara and Ventura" by Steve Edwards. And......as Beta said, the flys SUCK!!! Marc [ This Message was edited by: cloudbreak on 2002-08-12 15:05 ]
