Polish climbers Michal Król and David Kaszlikowski recently completed a first ascent in the Miyar Valley of the Himalayas. The route, named "LOTOS," stands at an elevation of 5630 m, and it was climbed by the southwest wall, along a route 750 meters long (VIII-, M6, ice 80o). Makes me proud to be Polish. I hope this news helps in my ongoing quest of convincing people that I'm a badass - it's in my blood.

That's a really strange news item. There are so many photographs of the approach march and hardly any of the climbing. And I think all the talk about how inaccessible the Miyar valley is is just nonsense. The valley is inhabited after all, there are about 4 different villages in it. It is a reasonably popular trekking area as well - my family and friends have just returned from a trek there in October. And frankly if they could not find any maps of the Miyar valley they probably just didn't look hard enough.

Sesh, For foreigners a lot of places in India seem to be relatively inaccessible. You can find trekking maps of Miyar, but i doubt if topos are available legally... This is a great effort. They deserve to be congratulated.
