I'm looking for the best 20 or so places in Wyoming to go bouldering. I'll be trying to visit each of them in the next 10 months or so. Its for a photography project of mine. If you know some locals who would like to be photographed on the local super-project, let me know as well. And for obvious reasons, just give me the approximate area, if I need directions I'll pm you.

Jenny LAke in the Tetons
Sinks Canyon near lander - decent with different rock types within 3 miles about a weeks worth of climbing.
Sweetwater rocks near lander/jeffrey city - nearly endless
and of coarse from where you are you already know about Vedauwoo!

It always amazes me when climbers are looking at the boulders at the base.
Vedauwoo is supposed to have a lot of new development going on with many good problems being put up. I really don't know much about it though, the only time I was there we were after the big cracks.

I didn't even think of Jenny Lake, and its world famous. Whoops.
Right off hand, my list is:
Sphinx Boulders, Cody
Flaming Gorge, Rock Springs (although most of the good stuff is in Utah)
Vedauwoo, Laramie
Sinks Canyon (especially the granite), Lander
Casper Mountain, Casper (also Alcova)
Sweetwater Rocks, Jeffery City
Jenny Lake, Jackson
Devils Tower (mostly the fallen columns)
Wheatland area (assuming the locals don't skin me for it)
Ten Sleep
Dubois
Rawlins?
I need more people! Any help would be appreciated.

I grew up in Green River. There's bouldering there, and fairly tall climbs too. Some of it might even be worth doing. I'd recommend checking out the base of Man's Face, near the church to the north of it, for starters.
Also north of the interstate but east of Mormon canyon, near the tunnels. And some of the side canyons of South Hill.
I can't remember...is Darby Canyon in Wyoming or Idaho? Ask some Jackson locals.
Plenty of boulders deep in the Wind Rivers, of course.
...Oh yeah. There is a genuine Gill little white arrow in the Snowy Range. I think there's a photo of it in Master of Rock.

Gros Ventre Slide Lake areas great too, some good bouldering around the slide, windsurfing's pretty decent too :lol: also Rendezvous Peak.

there's a little bit of bouldering in Yellowstone as well...e.g., there are a few top ropes and a few problems right along the road in a pull out just south of Mammoth Hot Springs (maybe dolomite?), they're nothing worth road-tripping for (even if you are already in that corner of the state).

While you're in Jackson, be sure to ask around about the new development going up below Rock Springs Buttress at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. I've heard that it is some of the best bouldering in the Jackson area. I think the same group of people developing these boulders are developing areas up Death Canyon in the Tetons as well. Maybe PM agrauch for more info.

Hey buddie. Good post. Add Kemmer to your list. I have an area there that is full of crazy conglomerate boulders. Another spot might as well be the boulders in the Superior canyon area. I found a new area that's pretty rad. Your list looks pretty good, but i have never hear of anything near rawlins, but i here ten sleep is awesome. See Ya soon. Don't forget DEC. 10Th comp in rock springs, and more importantly the guided tour the next day out too the gorge.
I have a bunch of new stuff in a area i have not shown you yet. You will love it.

No climbing trip to Wyoming for bouldering could be complete without a stop in Cody. A new guide book released in Sep 05, is on shelves and waiting to help you find around 800 different problems. Sandstone bouldering similar to Joes Valley with a wide variety of ticks from V0 to V10 and a list of projects in the back of the book. Come and get it. The book is for sale in several gear shops in Cody and surrounding communities but please come to the Beta Coffeehouse and buy it from me. I could use the support.
