In a bold anti-flaking move strategically planned to recover some shred of self-respect and bolster my reputation as an upstanding member of the climbing community... I will go this weekend! Even though there is nothing there that I can climb. I am happy to do photo and sherpa duty. When? Where? I've never been there before.

Toobigtooclimb, As luck would have it, I just added an 'adventure database' to my http://www.lostoutdoors.com website. One of the two sample entries I put in for both climbing and hiking are Malibu Creek. Since wading through a US map with only two push pins on it is silly, here are the two links directly: The Climb Entry: http://www.lostoutdoors.com/mcclimb.html The Hike Entry: http://www.lostoutdoors.com/mcpool.html If you click on the tiny map near 'Driving Directions' it will take you to the Tiger mapping site and you can zoom in, etc. Alas, I will be driving to Tahoe this weekend, or I would try to make it. Have faith though, if an old duffer like me can climb some of the routes, anyone can. Also, although I've never seen a topo for them, there seemed to be some new, moderate (5.7/5.8?) sport routes past the rock pool the last time I was back there. -jjf

I've got your back, karen ... if he flakes on you again, you can join me for a weekend of climbing in the breath-taking mountains of Dallas, TX .. that should make him jealous enough to keep him in line in the future. That, or rrradam can just keep calling him the wrong name .. lol!
