How is Red Rocks in February? Cold, Hot, Perfect? I'm going to be going down there for 3 days over valentines day, and I'm curious if I'll be able to get all or any of these 3 climbs in while I'm down there. -Epinephrine -Chrimson Chrysalis -Solar Slab Also, is daylight going to be a large issue since it is earlier in the year? (I've only been down there in the middle of March, so any beta you can give me will be greatly appreciated!) Thanks!

Redrocks can be cold in Feb, but you could also get lucky. Epi and Chrimson are in the shade. Chrimson may get very early morning sun? Solar slab...well the name says it all. Days are short, so daylight is also a factor. Of the climbs you mention, Epi is clearly the biggest undertaking. The good thing about RR is that regardless of the time of year, there is always something to climb....and on the off chance of rain, you "might" be able to find a way to kill the down time :-)

I went to RR last Feb. over Valentine's weekend with a bunch of friends, and it rained constantly while we were there. Even with the rain it wasn't intolerably cold, so you should be able to climb if your luck is better than our's.

we did Epi in Feb last year during a heat wave- it was like 80 degrees out when we did it. weird. usually, the highs are around 50-60ish, and Epi and Crimson are far too cold to be comfortable unless you're fast enough to stay moving on Crimson or in the sun on Epi (the sun moves up the wall and you have to be halfway done by 9:00am to keep up with it). Solar Slab could be a perfect undertaking as its sunny all day and good fun at that, provided its not too warm. daylight- should be light around 5:30 (sunrise 6:00), and dark around 5:30ish (sunset 5:00)- give or take a few minutes. you can get the exact times on weather.com.

2flamer. . . Yeah, I'm from Montana but I'm used to skiing when it's cold! :) But no, thanks all for the input. It looks like it'll be doable then eh? Just climb fast and keep warm. No problem. It also sounds like these routes probably won't be as crowded as they are in March, will they? Do people ~generally~ stay off of them during this time? Or am I going to have to wait in lines like I do in March?

solar slab could be a rat race- but lots of ledges and variations making passing possible. the other two should be no problem- no one will be on 'em if its cold and shitty.
