Over 100 competitors showed up from all over the region to compete in the American Bouldering Series Regional. The youth comp kicked off in the morning with some incredible climbers from as far as Chicago and teams from Cincinnati and Atlanta. Some of the "youth" climbed well enough to put them in the running for the Open Division finals.

The Citizens competition started after lunch and the climbing was fierce. There was a great variety of problems from the local setting crew lead by Climb Nashville's full time route setter, Kyle Musgrove. Kevin Branford and Mike Moelter came in from Colorado to add some spice and help things run smoother than ever.

The competitors and spectators were fueled all day with a steady flow of complimentary pizzas, snacks and drinks and while the scores were being tallied, everyone got to test themselves against our formidable tapeballs (40lb and 100lb). Local climbers, Stein Servick and Sara Brooks tossed the balls an incredible distance and took the prizes.

The finals started with the competitors coming out of isolation to test themselves against some incredible problems with gymnastic moves. The climbers all did great but in the end Jimmy Webb and Kate Reese walked away with the first place prizes of $300 each and a total of $1200 was awarded to the open finalists. Tons of prizes were given out to all competitors including 3 crash pads, 6 pairs of shoes, a rope and lots of other swag!

We want to thank everyone for coming out and supporting our comp. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make everything run so smoothly. We especially want to thank all of our sponsors for making this such a huge success. The comp was brought to you by ABS, USA Climbing and Climb Nashville. The title sponsor was Eastern Mountain Sports. Other huge supporters are as follows: La Sportiva, Atomik, Sterling, Montrail, REI, Pizza Hut, Redbull, Misty Mountain, Prana, Rock Monkey, McCabe Pub, Mountain Khakis, Climbing Magazine, Rock and Ice, E-Grips, Clif Bar, Mad Rock, The North Face, Protech, BS Productions, Smith, X Crater, Cheap Holds, Petzl, The Access Fund, Metolius, Black Diamond, Climbers for Christ, Five Ten, So Ill and Slackline Brothers. Please remember the companies that support these events when it comes time to make a purchase.

Thanks and see you next year!
