Are there walls or crags at Red Rocks containing a sizable number of moderate sport climbs? I'm thinking of flying to Las Vegas for a week in March (to get away from the cold Northeast weather) and I'd like to find an area with a good number of 5.6 - 5.9 sport climbs. Thanks, Victor

Black Corridor has plenty of fairly easy stuff, pretty cold in winter though. Gallery has a few easy climbs too, very nice in winter. Another nice place with a few easy climbs is err... Magic Bus??? Something bus I think.

Ya, there are plenty of moderates in the area, start at the Magic Bus. It might be crowded but just be be patient and one of the moderates will come open. You're likely to meet some nice people while waiting for your route. I always met a lot of cool people there especially when I was relaxed and patient.

I would highly recommend spending your first day at the Panty Wall (1st Pullout). You might run into some other climbers there but all of the sport routes there are about 5.7-5.8 and pretty soft for the grade and have no run-outs. Also check out the nearby Panty Prow (5.6) and if you're looking for some slightly run-out (but fun) slabs check out the Ultraman Wall (5.7-5.9 - some routes here need 2 ropes to get down)

We were there last weekend (visiting from Colorado) and I second the votes for Panty Wall, Black Corridor, Gallery and Magic Bus (although MB only has one or two moderates). The ratings IMHO seemed a little soft to me as well. Beautiful climbing right now until the wind picks up.

The listed 5.6- 5.8 routes are good and are almost the total list. There is plenty of great climbing in the 5.9 to 5.10a range and you will be sending those in no time! (grades are a little ... soft) routes to avoid: American Sportsman - I remember a runout for the grade Most of the routes at Mass production - bolts in the wrong place. Trigger happy is good Dog wall moderates - climb the hard move, clip the bolt. Repeat. Apart from that, Climb on Brian
