Just moved to Berkeley from Colorado. Looking for partners to boulder/sport/TR/trad OUTSIDE in the Berkeley or SF Bay area. I lead 5.9ish and TR 10s (sport). No trad. gear, but I have a new rope and draws.

I'm a student, so I have a pretty open schedule.

Please get me out of the climbing gym,
Kat

Hi

Im a berkeley based climber. There is climbing here, but sadly not very good climbing very close by. Still - I get out locally a few times a week and at least once a week head up to Tahoe, yosemite or Sonora for more quality climbing. Mostly a crack/trad climber to high 10's, ocassional sport climber to mid 11's and - by neccesity - a boulderer at indian rock (but secretly I like it). Let me know if/when you'd like to get out (weather permitting). Gyms depress me, but I ocassionally go to Ironworks when weather is like this.

Dude, don't be fooled by the label of winter these next few months. This is Cali and its hardly ever winter. I was in Yosemite last week and it was sunny and pushing 65 degrees in the sun accept for Friday and Saturday, which we found shelter TRing under the Generator crack and around Chapel wall. The west face of Sugar loaf is a good place to head when its not raining. Consumes for TR and short stuff. Cal Domes if you got 4WD, Table Mountain in Sonora dries out quickly in some area's. None of these area's are covered in snow if any at all and they all dry quickly. If it stops raining in the morning you'll be climbing by afternoon. And you can always Aid if thats your thing, rain or shine. Not recommended during long cold storms though, just be prepared. Some guys were camped out on El Cap spire working the upper pitches of the Salathe all last week. Lots of climbing to be had, you just have to be versatile. Storms don't last more than a few days, then its sunny crowed free climbing anywhere you choose. Winter's the best time for Yosemite. No crowds, no traffic, always a campsite, its heaven.

Just where the previous guy mentioned. Perfect conditions at the cookie last Sunday (all by ourselves), Sugarloaf as a usual spot ALL winter, table mtn (overhanging nature even keeps some routes dry when it IS raining).......but lets keep it our little secret 'kay?

Thanks guys! Now I just gotta find someone to show my nOOb self around Sugarloaf some weekend (I've only trad led 5.6 so far, but could probably follow 5.9/5.10 depending on type of climb).

Oh yeah, I'm sure it was just a figure of speech, but I'm not a dude ...

The OP and I had plans to climb this weekend, but she's got a school obligation to attend to. Anyone want to show me around the Berkeley area on Superbowl Sunday?

Anyone interested in crack climbing Thurs or Fri at the Grotto? Willing to clip some bolts, but not looking for a day of hard sport climbing (sorry chris 13b).

Give a shout if you want to climb on those nice Grotto cracks and slap your way up ACDD
