Hello out there- Laurel Knob is awesome!! Plan on hiking for over an hour and a half and more to get out. That's with a trad rack and two ropes. The hike is hard on the way out with lots of gear but it's worth it. We went in and did 600 feet of Fathom and loved it. It had bolted anchors about every 160+feet. It takes cams up to 4.5. We used 70m ropes so we could run pitches together. I was happy to have two 70m ropes. Hauling bags is hard due to the rib features. Carry a comfy backpack, not a haulbag if you like your hips. I didn't see any rockfall and only a few loose rocks on the wall. It seemed as though there wasn't that much in the way of steep climbing. Most of the routes seemed slabby. Very enjoyable though indeed. I think that the knob is a wonderful climbing area for anyone wanting to do multi pitch trad. It has so much potential. There is so much rock waiting for climbers to do it. What are the bolting ethics here? Can we put in anchors? It seemed most of the possible routes might need an occasional bolt. Fathom direct looked excellent. It's clean and has awesome ribs that look like limestone toufas. Fathom direct seemed to be a mixed route with quite a few bolts. Lace up your boots and get goin light. Take headlamp. Enjoy, Sincerely Lee
