Dude! You REALLY need to consider new climbing shoes! Those things you have there look horrible.... truly.... pamper your feet a little....
Yeah, I now have a set of Miuras... Much nicer... I now lend out the resoled boreals to n00b partners... Those were my gym climbing shoes, which accounts for the cleanliness, as I hit the gym frequently as the nearest area to my last locale was 100 miles away. I don't even want to know how far away the nearest crag is now.

In reply to:
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed they HUGE holes in the shoes!

Dr. feelgood, climb ice? That'll take care of a good chunk of your money...

Oh BTW, when you're ready to buy, Gear Express gives 10% military discount

Glad to hear it. They just became my new best friend. When during the checkout do you tell them you're military? When I move to a colder locale, I'll probably end up blowing a bit of money on ice. I just can't justify buying them when I am in texas.
Oh well. 9 months left of dreaming.

2. A Bosch or Hilti drill, two extra batteries and 50-100 bolts+hangers.

For a love of God man.
WTF?
Stop suggesting that he goes bolting the crags.

In reply to:
C3's!!!!! I don't have any yet, and haven't played with them either, but they look cool, and since Alien's are out of the question... for me at least... I need to find something to replace them.

What Aliens do you have ?

If you really love those old high-tops check out La Sportiva "Mega" rock shoes. I just found a pair for $40 at Sierra Trading Post.

Get a new rope- gotta have 2 for long routes and just in case something happens! Check out Mammut- they have some of the lightest ropes on the market.

Where's your helmet?!

Other thoughts: ultralight sleeping bag and pad, tent, rain gear, stove and titanium cookset... just stuff that I find useful.

PS ever thought of ice climbing?!?!?!?

There you go, that's the funnest money-pit short of a two month stay at a bordello in Battle Mountain. They cost about the same, both in cold hard cash and impact on your psyche.

Good trad rack?
I think so.

... and i'm a competent gear whore, too.

Instead of the #5 & #6 C4s, you might consider some Big Bros.

If you really want a gear whore badge, you need to have a dozen petzl spirits for sport climbing, and a dozen Superfly/dyneema trad draws for trad.

Real gear whores don't change out their draws.

From gearwhore to gearwhore, really consider this post.

To satisfy your gearwhore needs...
first, BUY A BRAIN BUCKET. Then, go ahead and double up on the sizes you definately need.

then...

GO USE IT
Go on a climbing trip, like THAILAND, YOESMITE, ZION Nat Park, the entire world is game as long as you don't go nuts w/your gearwhore needs.
GEAR LOOKS MUCH BETTER ON ROCK THAN SPREAD OUT ON YOUR FLOOR. YOU WILL REMEMBER CLIMBING TRIPS MORE THAN LOOKING AT YOUR GEAR IN YOUR ROOM.

also, consider taking some classes or meet some people who can show introduce you to mountaineering. This way, you can get the most out of your gear.

Sry bout the data dump.
Hope you get the most out of your money bro

Blasphemy! Use my gear? What world are you from?
Good suggestion on the helmet, but I forgot I bought one after taking the picture, and all my stuff is in texas. I use it whenever i climb, except for the occasional TR.... A 15 lb chunk of traprock landed 4 feet from me and taught me to wear that sucker.

Yeah... Among other things, a new bag and pad and a kayak is also on my list. I bought a tent, stove and some pots before i left...

Well, I guess if you can muster up the dough for something like that, you can hire a sherpa to carry it all for you.

For the first thousand you can buy a sh#tload of gear and with the second, buy a new queen size mattress set with sheets and a comforter so you can spoon with all your new gear.
Remember to use ONLY waterbased lubricants though, much easier to clean up.

I asked my bank for a 10,000 dollar line-of-credit yesterday. They asked for what, so I said I want to buy a huuuuge climbing rack. They said no. Cheap basterds.
