so i have an old TR and am getting into sport and need a new rope.. i know i want something dry, 60 m and around 10mm... marmmut has some good stuff... not really sure what to get, can i get some advise on what ropes are good and relieable?!!? also i was concidering getiing another 60m rope off of ebay.. would you trust a rope off ebay? i would not climb with this rope yet would take my TR and this in a bag as i where to clean the routes and that the top of the climb connect the two ropes and be able to repell 2 pitches.. i know it adds weight and a little inconvience. yet would it be worth it? or just a hassel? what would you do? thanks!

I certainly love my Mammut 9.5. I use it to lead sport and trad. Love the feel and flexibility of it. My partners always want to use my rope as well.

Yes on Mammut rope, no on ebay rope. You don't know it's history...and tho it'd be nice to think everyone out there would say ' yeah, this rope has been left in the sun for 3 mos, then in the attick for a coupla years' that's just not the case. NEW Mammut rope...good stuff!

In reply to: so if i were to get a new rope.. would it be worth the hastle to haul it up and to repel all 60m or is it not worth it?! sigh.....the word you are looking for is rappel. No, as long as there are rap anchors every 30m or less, it would not be worth hauling an extra 60m rope. If you really want to rap 60m at a time, then you should maybe consider investing in double or twin ropes instead of a single. You will probably catch flack from other sport climbers, but if you are doing multi-pitch it might well be worth it in the long run. Edit: and yes, Mammut makes very good ropes. A bit on the pricey side, but generally well worth the extra dough.

What's up, up_up_up_? You didn't get the answer you wanted in the first post you made, so you started 2 more posts to get the answer you are looking for? From your posts, it sounds like you need to get some climbing instructions instead. You could then ask your instructor those questions. Cosmiccragsman
