Quote:RC.com SoCal rules !!! First rule: No rules! While rrrAdam et al were busy climbing the very long Dancing in the Storm*****, I ran around begging for belays to warm up for working my project, Hellraiser. Zac was kind enough to belay me on Mushroom before he headed over to the Stream Wall. Then, just as Zac was leaving, Pranaguy and friends arrived and I put up Shroomin' for them. Wandering over to the Waterfall Wall, I found my ex-roommate, Jen, and I put up Industrial Disease for her. Next, Artm and friends let me take a toprope spin on Guilty Being White. Finally feeling warmed-up, it was on to Hellraiser, which I led twice, finally, I think, working out a good sequence through the crux roof section. Last, was a warm-down run on Carpe Diem. Adam is too polite to mention the Gumby Show we watched at the end of the day: Scene One: How Not to Stick Clip. Do not stick clip by tying the gate of the top biner of your draw to its spine with a piece of string, thus leaving the gate opened and out of reach when you hang the draw. It's also a good idea to remember to clip the rope into the draw before hanging it. Scene Two: How Not to Fall After Adam Clips the First Bolt for You. Above the fist bolt do not fall upsidedown, as this can result in landing directly on your head. (Miraculously, the guy was not hurt.) Scene Three: When Not to Set Up a Top Rope. If, after everyone in your party has been unable to reach the first bolt and/or has fallen on their head, do not send someone in your group on a 30 minute hike to set up a TR on the route if it will be dark in 30 minutes. -Jay

I forgot about that Jay... The gumbies on Valdez 5.10d. I clipped the first bolt for them while wearing my hiking boots, they are Five Tens, ya know. I was trying to let them put up more booty for you. They were very entertaining, as we watched them for about 40 minutes. Gotta mention the "z-clip" one of the leaders did also. They did have nice brand new gear though. [ This Message was edited by: rrradam on 2002-08-18 14:15 ]

It was a really busy saturday at Williamson I ran into at least a dozen people from my gym. Also met Spike(richard) who knows Jen and Jay. It's a small small climbing world when my friend Jen is Jay's ex-roomate! I think I only led two routes all day... Mushroom (5. and Shroomin (5.11b). Took a lap on someones toprope on Labryinth then ran into some friends from the gym and took a lap on Guilty Being White. The highlight of the day was watching Jay do the double drop knee gaston move and a kind of double arm lever to get thru the crux of Hellraiser! oh yeah Adam and Jay jorge found this "Fake a rope " Lie the rope on the deck in a crocodile. Ideally, each turn should lie half way over the previous one to save space on the deck. but don't ask me what the hell a "crocodile" is, I presume it's not the reptile

This is from the nautical glossery at http://tanzer.freeservers.com/glossary.htm FAKE - One circle of a coil or rope. To coil or arrange a rope ornamentally with each fake flat, or almost flat, on the deck, usually in a circle or figure-of-eight pattern. FLAKE - To coil a rope so that each coil, on two opposite sides, lies on deck alongside previous coil; so allowing rope to run freely -Jay
