The above link takes you to Simon Carters Onsight gallery and news site. The story goes that Garth Miller has put up this insanely hard route which goes through a 6 metre roof which goes at grade 27, pulling the lip you encounter a V12 boulder problem. The complete route was graded at 33/34 which makes it Australias hardest route.

It took Garth nine shots over three days to tick this mega hard route. Good to see the man back and cranking after some major injuries.

That's great to hear, I was wondering why I hadn't heard much about him for a while, it was strange the way he just seemed to disappear.

It's not often someone onsights 31 (about 5.13d) then drops off the face of the Earth.

what sort of injuries did he have Phil?

Adam, I cannot speak with any authority on the subject so I shall not even try.

From http://www.onsight.com.au/...ms/garth06/index.htm:

Garth has been steadily getting back into hard climbing over the last six months having finally recovered from a bad run of injuries over the last few years (a broken wrist and then some back problems). But there’s no doubt he’s now back and crankin!

Right, that explains it, thanks.

Look forward to hearing more about him in the coming months.

High All,
The route in question 'One on One' was actually envisioned and bolted by myself . Garth ascent was fantastic - onsight to the crux and eventually skipping the clip that protects the crux move on the redpoint.
An adjacent line in the same roof will be even harder. And round the corner we bolted a line that Garth scoped that will also be harder. So hard it almost shut him down!
Another route at the same cliff has just been climbed by Chris Webb and is also graded 33/34. Garth was also close to finishing this but didn't get to do it before heading to England.
Hopefully he will be ticking 9A and onsighting 8B's whilst in England.
Cheers all,
Macca
