Dunno about quality, reports seem pretty OK... but GoDaddy.com is feaking AMAZINGLY cheap. Their premium package comes with some software, dunno how good it is, and only costs like $12/month for like 200GB of storage, 1000GB of transfer, 200 e-mail addresses.... Looks pretty loaded. Haven't seen anything else that comes close to touching the price. And extra couple bucks a month for a static IP. Might look into them.

I used ipowerweb.com for mine. For about $200 for 2 years you get pretty much everything you need.

www.bluehost.com is who I use. Good service, plenty of space and bandwidth for me. Not always super fast, but for 8.00 a month, it is fine for me.

http://globat.com/ they pretty much blow everyone out of the water. 10gb storage and 3 terabytes of bandwith a month for like 4.95 right now (usually is like 7 bucks a month) i'm sure you get a free domain name as well.

Wrong! That's 3.5 TB annually and from what I saw it's $6.95. This is fairly on par with other hosts.

Hmmmm. Good help so far! What are the best webpage creation/editing programs out there? Dreamweaver? Also, let's say I bought a .com and it turned out to be a poo - I would have to sell it off, correct? and do I only have to pay the monthly fee for as long as the web page exists?

actually you'll most likely pay for the whole year that way you avoid the set up fee and get the cheap rate. globat gives you a 30 day trial. I used ipowerweb before for a friends band. Great service and then later i got my own domain through them and they totally fucked it up. I called them and asked for a refund and even though the domain name was still mine and registered for a year they gave me the refund. I wanted just the domain name (since i have run my own nix box) and there was no way to change servers, etc. with ipowerweb's domain name thing. If you're getting domain + hosting go with one provider and you'll have no problems. For web, yes dreamweaver is the best. Can be akward if you have no web experience and no one to really teach you. Frontpage (as much as I think it sucks) is easier for a user with minimal skills.

FEC, could you tell us what you need this space/domain for? that hostingrevolution site has some super deals if you can get away with 5 gigs of bandwidth per month.

Well, I still want to keep it hush hush as I'm paranoid someone will scarf the idea. Anyway it is intended to be quite a large site with various databases of information, picture galleries and a web forum... does that help? If it's too vague, let me know!

then you probably want to go with ipowerweb or globat. I've used ipowerweb and they were great. Globat seems to offer a little bit more in a bandwidth department. It'll clost you like 95 bucks for the whole year and you get 10,000 mb storage space and 300 GB of bandwidth (where as the other place for 88 dollars you get 2500mb storage space and only 30 gb of bandwidth). Pictures/video eat up bandwidth like crazy so I'd go heavy on that.
