Anybody got some cool new routes to post? Perhaps a secret climbing/bouldering choss pile they want to direct me to?! Are there any old guidebooks to the state I should know about? Speaking of which, has anybody put up routes on the Bristol Cliff, or as I know it Deer Leap, seperate from the one down near Killington.... Its the VT-sized big wall you see to the north from the Bristol swimming hole which is off the road up to Lincoln? More then anything I'm looking for something to do this summer thats out of the ordinary.... Thanks in advance to anybody who posts up. Craig

I've done an aid line and a sweet ice route on Deer Leap outside Bristol. I know of several other routes done there over the years as well. PM for details if you'd like. -Derek

There is some cool stuff up on mt horrid. Brandon Gap. Upper cliff most likly closed for birds untill late july but you can climb the finger rock. Also check out www.deersleapvt.com for latest info on the deer leap down by killington. Autum feaver went up last fall and most likly the Bat will go free shortly as it is being worked by a strong party.

Follow your nose up at Bristol's Dear Leap. There are couple routes but most have grown into obscurity. Did a decent 5.7ish line up there over 10 years ago, finding a useless pin along the way. There's other evidence there too so be adventurous. sincerely, another taciturn Vermonter.

I have been up to the other deer leap. I was advised to bring double ropes and were a helmet. the is peregrine closure in the spring. I think the best route there is an aid route. I am a chossaholic but I haven't been back. It is sharp and loose. There is a long history of climbing there. I beleive that a large section of the mt Horrid clif is closed to climbig due to endangered plants there. I was paid to do an endangered species count about 12 years ago, best to stay off the low angle slabby stuff (in the centr if I remember correctly) it"s only about 5.2. anyhow.
