if you are looking for someone to show you where to climb, i would be will ing to go with you, i would bring a friend ofcoarse, so that we dont end up with 3 people, i usually go to queen creek for good sport climbing. Check out the mine area, upper devils, i wouldnt reccomend going to the pond, every route there is like 5.10 and up. Upper devils would probly be your best bet, i pretty much know all of the routes there, most of them are in the 5.7-5.10a range and they are fairly soft rated. If you want to check out the routes go to the phoenix area routes and then go to queen creek section, from there dont click on the upper devils area, the places are pancake house, the throne and just look around, youll find something good out there, let me know if you want to go, i will bring a friend, possibly a big group to where we could get a lot of climbing in.

Fearlessclimber:

Is there a guidebook to Queen Creek? If so, do you know if it's available at the Tempe REI?

Thanks...

Thanks!

That place seems really fun and I'm looking forward to checking it out while I'm in Tucson. The only info I have on it is from the Falcon guide, which seems kind of outdated...

also check http://www.drtopo.com/index4.html for queen creek and oak flats. The QC one shows a small number of their massive number of sport climbs, and the oak flats shows a decent number of their plethora of bouldering.

Sweet!

Yeah, I'll probably take you up on that offer to come along.. with a friend or a group. The more the merrier.

The plan at the current moment is for me and my main climbing buddy to go out climbing Sat, Sun and Mon.
But especially on Sat, we may have one or two additional complete beginner joining us. Almost our whole department will be in the area for a conference and some are wanting to try rock climbing. Many are attending training on Sunday and Monday, whereas myself and my buddy are not. It's a shame we'll have to occupy ourselves with climbing ;).

I guess we'll touch base again closer to the date... but you can count on us being there on those days: April 22, 23, 24.

The Falcon guide is just not a good resource for Lemmon climbing. Get Squeezing the Lemmon at Summit Hut. A lot of climbs (mostly sport climbs at higher elevations) have gone up since it was published but it's pretty complete.

Hello! :)

I reside in WA. I am in Phoenix for work. I am busy until 4:30 pm each day. I am staying next to the Metrocenter. This is my first time in AZ. I would like to climb outside. I have until Thursday. I am leaving for NM Friday afternoon.

I would like to hit up Pinnacle Peak for a 5.7 - 5.9 ish predominetly crack type line (if available?). I am thinking something like:

Happy Robots 5.7
Birthday Party 5.7
Mickey Mantle 5.8
Delayed flight 5.8

It all depends on approach times.

I can be on the road from the Metrocenter at 4:31 pm, so I think it is possible to be on route by 5:01 pm. Anybody else agree?

Leave me a message or give me a call!

cell: 509 200 2469

I brought my own vehicle, rack, rope, harness, shoes, etc.

Ken

P.S. I am going to hike Camelback Mtn. this evening with my shoes and harness in tow, trying to bogart laps on other peoples ropes.

Whoa! I haven't climbed at PP in 17 years and I check this thread for the first time and somebody is talking about a route I put up that day! My wife and I put up Happy Robots the Day before we got married. We did another one that day to but I don't remember the name. It is a pretty short route as I remember. Enjoy... BTW we are still happily married too.

I know it's a few weeks away, but anyone interested in Flagstaff climbing/camping/brain cell killing on May 13, 14, 15, and 16 (Sat-Tues.)

I'll be done with finals, will have my first full weekend off since January, and will be in the mood for rocks, beer, and campfires.

I think I can be there. Sounds fun. As always, any plans for committment of my free time must be run be the one-woman-committee before I can be certain, but I think I could talk her into it.

I just moved to Casa Grande and am looking for regular or not so regular partners for Mt. Lemmon or elsewhere in the southern AZ area. I prefer sport to trad but I'm willing to do either, up to 5.8 or 5.9. If interested for this weekend or any other time, please p.m. me. Thanks.

Okay... a couple of co-workers and I will be leaving Tempe around 12 this Saturday heading for Queen Creek (Upper Devils/Pancake house maybe... will get the paper guide book at REI after we land Friday) for the afternoon.

Anybody wanting to join us either to just hang out and climb or guide us around are welcome.

We'll be looking for easy stuff ranging from 5.6 to 5.9 and will try some harder stuff if we can set up top ropes from other climbs.

If you see two guys with pony tails that look like they are not used to the area... that'll be us, give us a shout.

We might be coming back Sunday and Monday, but will likely look for a different spot.

Hope to come across some of you.

Anyone want to either boulder at C-Back or climb at Lookout today? I could also do the 5.6 at Praying Monk if anyone was up...

I'm just starting to climb and am looking for a partner. I live in the Phoenix, East Valley area. I don't whine and really want to learn. I love doing it, I just don't have a lot of practice right now. I'm a 26 yr old female. If your interested email me at valkyr37@yahoo.com.
