Dear Friends,

The venue was at Plas Y Brenin in the North Wales (UK). 25 Countries had participated in the event sharing the knowledge regarding the Rock climbing. From India 3 representative attended the meet through the Himalayan Club of India. Those 3 climbers are Cyrus Shroff, Sripad Sapkal & Rajan Rikame. Everyday the climbers used to visit diff rent climbing sites in the vicinity with BMC Host members. The prime area of practice was Lanberis Pass, Tramadog, Gogarth(Sea Cliff), Slate Quarries. They had presented the climbing in Sahyadri during the meet. We congratulate to all three members and thankful to the Himalayan Club to promote such activity among the climbing community.

Hey Raze

I'm going to be based in Mumbai from mid-July to Mid-September and am looking for fellow climbers. Are you still in Mumbai? Is there a climbing gym in town? Can you get outdoors in the summer?

Cheers

Stef

Hi,

I am in Mumbai now.
Probably 1st July to 28th July will be out for an Himalayan Expedition.
Later I will be available.
Due to Monsoon we dont climb in the outdoor.
Their are few walls in Mumbai which one can practice 365 days.
So do write back if you want any further assistance.

Rgds

Hey Raze

Would be good to meet up and climb when you are in town.

Can you recommend any of the walls in town? (any with long lead routes and overhangs?) Do you have their contact details?

Stef

Hey Raze

I'm doing a PhD in Economics based in the US focusing on development, so I'm in India for research this summer. I was in India last summer too, though based in Chennai.

I'm actually British and I've been climbing for 6 years or so. I started in Hong Kong and Thailand and have mostly done sport though with a bit of trad too. No mountaineering though. My favourite place to climb so far is probably Kalymnos in Greece, the main cave there is absolutely gob-smacking. I love Krabi/ Railay in South Thailand too.

I got so weak last summer in Chennai, so I'm hoping to keep up my strength this summer. Be good to meet some fellow climbers too

hey Raze

You still around in Mumbai. Myself and a buddy, Doug, are aching to climb after the monsoon. We have a full trad rack and are raring to get onto rock. We've heard Sayadri is the place to go, but don't know anything more/ have any maps etc.

Are you interested? Know any other climbers you can put us in contact with? my Mumbai mobile is 996 742 0918 or email at stefanhunt@gmail.com

cheers mate
