i returned to climbing about two years ago after a few dogged injuries lasting several years. progress has been steady and reassuring; i am close to my previous strength level, have higher endurance than before, and measurably better technique. so far, so good. but now i want to push my strength, especially on tough face climbs, to new levels. i tried every plateau-busting technique out there, both this year and in the past, until an elite climber told me that I'm just not training often enough to meet my grade aspirations. trouble is, much as i'd like to fit in more sessions, i don't seem able to recover quickly enough from my existing climbing workouts (3, or 2 + outdoor leading) to fit in an extra session. it's obviously pointless to train again when you're experiencing DOMS, as i usually am for a day or two after a session. Or is it?
