hey everyone. I'm a sport climber from Marietta Georgia. My friends and i have been driving further and further to sport crags around the south east but havent been to kings bluff. from what ive seen it looks awesome but was just wondering if it is worth the drive? its 250 miles as opposed to the 110 that Foster is. Been to foster and I love it. Kings bluff looks like a really sweet place...will probably end up going there anyway but was just wanting to know what people think about the place. pros, cons, favorite routes? thanks for the feed back!!

King's Bluff is lots of fun... The only bad part is mostof the climbs are really short.... There is also lots of easy stuff there... Normally when I go with 2 other people we can get around 15 good climbs in a day.... its also really close to the river, so if you get hott you can jump in a cool off... have fun!

Just an opinion...........Foster Falls is vastly superior in aesthetic climbing, rock quality, and routes. Foster Falls is bullet hard sandstone while King's Bluff is limestone. While King's Bluff is much closer to Nashville, I always take the longer drive to Foster Falls..........it's worth it.

Naw i've never been. I want to go though. I hear its awesome. I go to School in Auburn so Sandrock is kinda far. I usually climb at Cherokee Rock Bluffs. I might have to take the trip up to Sandrock and Fosters sometime. Again holler at me the next time you go and i'll see if i can't go out there with ya or something. Later

I second jackson falls, a different type of climbing but I prefer the longer routes and overhanging jug hauls.

I'd recommend The Obed. Tons of moderates. Tons of hard routes.

It's about 50 miles closer than Kings Bluff (I think).

I'm pretty darn certain I ran into you at Fosters a few weeks ago and we had this same conversation. I'll repeat what I said then. It seems like opinions about Kings Bluff are very polarized. You either love it or hate it. I have some good friends who love it. I'm in the hate it camp. Don't waste the gas. There are a half dozen high quality places that are closer to you.

All the places you all have named are lots of fun! My only negative experience at Foster's was asshole climbers... It is one of the only places I have ever been where the climbers weren't cool... They seriously acted like climbing was a job, and they had to be there climbing 14s or their lives were going to fall apart... other than that, the routes there are awesome...
sandrock is super fun... I could spend weeks there... I have some interesting stories about people up there as well... but definetly some fun times!
Obed is my home sweet home... I spent every weekend of my high school years there... Great climbing, great places to camp, your near the river, just amazing all the way around...

Pretty place though.

Find someone who knows how to get you to reel cove.
