I'm your belay slave for Friday. As long as I get some good climbing lessons from ya. Give me a time and place and I will be there. As far as directions, here goes. From I-44, take the Roger's Lane Exit westbound. Take Roger's Lane until you get to Sheridan Road ( you will see the Bentley gate and the MP's). Once through the gate take Sheridan to Mow-Way Road. There will be a Shopette on your left at the intersection. Take a left on Mow-way and continue on for awhile. When it looks like you are heading out in the boon-docks, look for a small sign on your left that says Lake Elmer Thomas Recreational Area. Take a right on Tower-Two Road. You'll be on this road for 4 miles until you get to a T intersection. You will see signs for Letra. Take a left and follow that road for about 4-4 1/2 miles. Can't miss it. Probably a shorter route but that was easiest to describe. J.C. Let me know the time and place for Friday morning. Bryan

Brandon, If you can stand to suffer back through the thread, directions to LETRA are posted a few times over. And, I'm sure that you'll be able to find us at the camp, we'll be the spastic adults climbing everything in sight, or playing bop-it, or hackey, or slacklining, or .. well, you get the picture, lol .. I'll be in a white toyota corolla, with two kids in tow, one 6 yr old, and one 23 yr old ..

Matt, I wouldn't worry about it. If you give it to the mp however, he will keep it! I don't think they will search your bag unless they suspect something. I have never seen them search bags. Bryan [ This Message was edited by: climbnnow on 2002-08-29 03:32 ]

Hey Bryan, Sounds great, thanks my friend. Since the area gates in the refuge don't open till 9:00 am, how about if you meet me at my tent in LETRA just before 9:00. I forget what color the tent I will be using is, but I will try to camp just past the bathrooms, on the lake side of the road, under the big cottonwood. I will be driving an old 89 Nissan Stanza, 4 door, teal green with faded paint. I'm not the mentor you need to teach you to climb 5.12+, but I will be glad to teach you the basics in a very safe way. I usually climb with my wife and daughter and I am more paranoid of them getting hurt than myself, so I have learned to be safe. You will have fun and be safe the whole time,,, but I must warn you now , before it is too late,,, climbing IS, not MAY BE, but IS, highly addictive. Don't say I didn't warn you. You probably don't have any rock shoes and my size 7.5 Five-Tens probably won't fit you, but if you have any tennis/basketball shoes with a fine tread pattern and stiff edges or some good hiking boots, you should do fine (jogging type shoes with the soft edges don't work as well). Bring water, snacks and a thirst for fun Hasta manana. JC

Hey Matt, If you want to get in some climbing Friday, let me know by what time you think you will be ready and Bryan and I will come back to LETRA and meet up with you. Give yourself time to get there and get your camp set-up. I will try to camp just past the playground and the bathrooms, I think the tent I will be using is Green and Purple (I guess I should have checked). I will try to remember to put some kind of RC.com note on it before I head out to climb. IMHO, the best camping area starts there and continues up to the end of the loop on the lake side. See you tomorro. [ This Message was edited by: cyberclimber on 2002-08-29 07:37 ]

Man, I'm jealous! I'd love to come hang out with you guys, I'm dying to get back to the Wichita's, but I'm a little whipped from driving (just got back from a big ol' road trip). I think I'll be spending some quality time with my couch this weekend. Next time . . . Have fun!

hey Amber, we'll be in a champagne colored 97 Pontiac Grand Prix, with tinted windows with a "3" sticker on the back window. My daughter has climbed and cleaned my cams on a 5.7 before with a "lil" help from me above. I think the easiest climbs are at upper Mt Scott right? We tried to find tiny bubbles last time we went but it was a lost cause we never found it. Its supposedly across from pear and apple but I didnt see anything worth climbing. See ya Brandon J.

Hey everyone!! I'm going to get in on Fri. probably early afternoon. I'm in a red 2 door Explorer with an Access Fund Sticker on the back glass. My climbing buddy and I are taking the easy way out and staying in a cabin. Nothing like a nice bed and A/C after a day of climbing. Only one more day Can't wait to meet everyone.
