Actually it seems to me a poorly researched and written piece by someone who barely knows something about the subject.

Not so recently. Actually it wasbetween 1970 and 1986 (36 to 20 years ago!)

Actually it was Nanga Parbat and not Everest. The author mentions Nanga related to the incident lower in the article, totally unaware of the blunder.

At the beginning we read this:
