Just want to add a message about this climbing wall ... I am the superviser of this facility which is a modest 25-foot-tall toprope wall inside the YMCA on Lexington Street near 4corners in Woburn. I have set routes ranging from 5.2 to 5.9, and boulder problems probably topping out at V2. The facility is used primarily for youth and teen instruction, as it is dwarfed by Boston Rock Gym (just a couple miles away). YMCA members climb free evenings November-to-April. But, if you are a local climber looking for part-time work or free climbing space you should contact me to find out how to arrange one or both. I am always looking for staff and anyone who doesn't want to work but might want to "adopt" the wall as their free home wall is welcome to volunteer as a route setter, instructor, hold changer-upper, gear washer, my best friend (j/k) or whatever let me know. And if I leave the Y sometime soon, the climbing wall will likely stay (as it is part of the wall). I have been told by a couple very reputable figures in Boston climbing "scene" that the YMCA's climbing facility is the oldest indoor climbing facility in New England. Email me if you want info, or contact the YMCA at 781-935-3270. [ This Message was edited by: orangekyak on 2002-08-29 19:15 ]

I am no longer at the YMCA. If you call there for me I won't be there. Jeremy
