The Coventry Evening Telegraph reports that British climber Brian Simpson is missing after climbing Mont Blanc and attempting a tandem paraglide decent off the peak. Further news regarding Mont Blanc is found in The Independent another British climber, Paul Holmes, was swept off the mountain by an avalanche near the Needles on Wednesday 5th.

hmmmm... a tandem usually means two persons. and i wouldnt call paragliding "jumping off a mountain".

Mr Simpson was a friend of mine. I know nothing about climbing but want to try and understand what happened. If anyone was there on Mont Blanc at the time, or could tell me a bit more about what the para glide should have been. I would be grateful in coming to terms with this loss.

Search for missing paraglider ends Weather hampered the search from the outset. There seems to be some discrepancy as to weather Mr Simpson was attached to the guide for the decent flight or the other way around icbirmingham
