Hello, July 27 to Aug 7, I am visiting family/friends in Michigan. Being a Western US climber, I would love to take a few days to visit/climb Lion's Head. Do you think that timeframe is too hot? Too many bugs? Too humid? Etc... For future reference, what is the preferred season? Thanks

Sounds like good timing to me. It can get pretty hot here in mid-summer, but Lion's Head is right on the water and most of it doesn't get a lot of sun, so hot outside means good climbing temps. If it gets too hot you can always make your way down to the water for a swim - that Georgian Bay water will cool you off quick! Ian Edited to add: If you've never been there before, it's best to go with someone who has, or at least make sure you've got the guidebook. If you're on your own, a good place to start is to get to the main lookout (there's signs) and figure your way around from there.

I've enjoyed 75 F days there on days Buffalo, Detroit, and Toronto were roasting in the 90's. Chances are very good you'll have climbable weather and decent temps there in August, but it can get hot on occasion. Today it is 86 F. Have fun, Marc B.

Thanks. PM me or respond if interested in joining up for the Aug. 4th weekend. I'll climb anything from 5.7 to 5.12. Best, J

Jesse that's great you are flying down from the Upper Peninsula for this. I will research driving info from Detroit Metro airport to Lion's Head ...
