It's been up over 100 lately. Pretty darn warm. I have climbed there recently nevertheless. I just stay in the shade. If you're determined to climb in the Gorge, you'll have a fine time (as long as you stay in the shade). Otherwise the higher elevation areas closer to Mammoth would probably be a better choice.

I've climbed Gorgeous Tower in the North Gorge on the hottest of days. The approach will be scorching but the north-facing wall should stay comfortable to climb. You will likely be the only party there. Have fun!

well...yea, it's possible, but there is SO MUCH OTHER FECKING ROCKS around that suffering from heatstroke seems like a pretty shitty way to spend the day. Cheers!

how about now? forecast looks damn hot, but, dammit, I want to go to a place with more than one climb of each grade! buddy and I are headed there this weekend. gorgeous towers, eh? I already love that area, so that should be good...how about if we get burned out, is retreating to the Mammoth area sport worthwhile (cooler)? Any good (cheap) guidebooks out there?

Look at that. It's so hot you guys can't even respond :) Ahhh, cancelled my plans anyway. I think I'll hit the Gorge when it's in season and just content with crowds. Better to wait in line than have a heat stroke.

We went there on tuesday and it was really nice, the clouds were over the gorge all day so it was cool, next day we went to mammoth and had some fun at clark and the bachar boulders until we got rained on. we've been climbing in alabama hills the last two days when the clouds are up and its been nice.
