I have a decent sized rack, but it still just feels like it needs something. More specifically something in the cam department. Here's what I have: Full set of 5 Robot cams Friends # 1.25, 2, 3, 3.5 Set of nuts Set of Rockcentrics I sort of feel like i need a wider range in my cams. I know I need at least one bigger piece. Any other suggestions, while i still have the money for it?

It really depends on where you are climbing... I would get some tricams though.. light, cheap, and bomber

What's wrong with your rack? Well, for starters, it looks like you've got some hexes on it. Bathe twice in vinegar, and then leave the hexes in the car, that should take care of the problem.

I don't take them on most climbs. They just don't see that much use. Occasionally they're exactly what I need, though.

awww... everybody is always picking on the hex. They are great for anchors, better to leave behind a $15 hex than a $60 cam

Hey, Honestly, rigid friends are great in straight in straight up cracks but just don't have the versatility of other units. And the robot cams won't do it. I think a #1 Metolious tcu or fcu, a.5 camalot, a #2 and #4 camalot would round out your rack nicely. and yes... a few tri cams and big hexes are also great additions. Justin

The robot cams won't do it? What do you mean, sir? I like them. They're pretty much the same as metolius cams but much cheaper. Oh, I forgot, they don't have that lovely range finder, so you actually have to look at the crack.

Maybe one or two of those omega link cams? I've never used one, or seen one used but I can see how they might be cool to have.

I have some of both... The Metolius just "feels" more solid, better built. Maybe it's just personal preference.... How about this.... put the money aside for now and go climbing for a while. Find out what you really feel that you "need" once you get out there. Maybe double up on a size or something. That was what I did and it worked out well.

Personally I would buy another set of nuts (wildcountry). I would buy a set of Metolius tri-cams up to orange, Aliens up to Yellow and I would finish my rack with .5 Camalot to whatever the largest size I needed (doubled). The Robot cams could serve as extras.

Those link cams do look pretty cool. I would like to try those out for a couple of days. Don't feel like dropping $100 on one cam though, I spend enough as it is.

I would also vote for some tri-cams (the 3 smallest sizes). In the right place they are bomber. I agree with the above statement about climbing more though. When you are leading think about what it would be nice to have (i.e. a double of the cam you placed 10 feet below :-) ) Look for more passive placments. I somtimes rely too much on cams alone and ignore perfect nut placements. Always feel a bit silly using a cam when a nut will do (and sometimes better) scoTt

Exactly... I was trying to get one of every size.. then I actually got out there and found that I needed a couple of #4's and I used the pink, red, and brown tricams all the time. Having a couple of them on me really paid off. That red tricam is probably the most used pro I have. Go out to your favorite rock, find out which one you find you could have used a couple of times over... then look for a sale on that item. It might take a few weeks but you'll eventually find what you want at a great price.

In reply to: In reply to: GREEN & YELLOW ALIENS!!! Add to that an GREY ALIEN, and a pair of GREY ZEROS (Z3). Oh, and a full set of BallNutz, and a C4-#4, and I'm pretty damn fond of my GREEN ZERO (Z2) as well... Didn't I tell you the green would be good to keep?
