Reuters reports the death of one of Latin America's leading climbers, 41-year-old Venezuelan Jose Antonio Delgado on Nanga Parbat. Everestnews.com reports that Delgado was part of The Adventure Tour Pakistan trekking company. He and his partner, fellow Venezuelan Edgar Alfonso Guariguata Herrera decided to stay where they were and attempt the summit while the rest of the party retreated down the mountain. Delgado made the summit but was caught by a storm on his decent and was forced to shelter at camp 4, approximately 7,500m. He had food and gas to last for 2-3 days but the storm trapped him for at least six days. It is unclear weather Delgado's partner, Herrera, made the summit but they seem to have separated at some point because Herrera made it safely back to Base Camp and maintained radio contact with Delgado throughout the storm. A rescue party moved as soon as the route was open again and found the body of Jose Delgado approximately 40m from his tent at camp 4
