This is a shot that I took on the way out of a climb in Japan last year. It was afternoon, a bit overcast, and besides the gray sky what else could be done with a shot like this... Good, bad, ugly overall??? I cropped it because it had a better feel to it. The regular size felt like an "I was there, and here is my picture," shot. Personally I think it gives a sense of scale to the approach trail, and the other climbs in the area. http://www.rockclimbing.com/...p.cgi?Detailed=76542 The climber was one of my partners. He's soloing next to the fixed ropes on the route out. Something in the range of 5.2 -5.3. (EDIT: I cnat splel.)

I really like this shot. The talent perhaps should be wearing some brighter pants so that he stands out a little more. The white shirt in this instance highlights the climber in the act of climbing which is a good thing. Normally a white shirt will cause all sorts of problems with overblown whiteness. But in this case the white shirt lends itself to the shot. I guess without it you'd lose the climber against the dark rock.

Neutral for me. Didn't see the talent... and if it wasn't cropped to landscape it would be dull. The cropping makes it somewhat better.

i would selectively edit right side to brighten and make it more balanced. Right now left side is bright, right side is dark and... well... blah... Add some pop and zaazzzz to the right side to balance the whoooosh on the left...
