A friend explained to me about how he heard there is climbing in Germany where no metal (!) is used, as a rule. They climb only with knotted cord/webbing slotted like nuts.

This seems perfectly do-able, but certainly I'd take a while getting used to it. Esp, in situations where nut-like placements are tough or sparse.

Has anyone climbed this "old fashioned way", using just knots and horns? How was it?

Sounds like the perfect place for some plastic cams.

I climb using only A4 80gr paper sheets, by foulding them, with no cuts, and using no glue or tape.

WHAT A RUSH!!! Try to fold one of those sheets to make a cam, with one hand, on some crazy overhang!

AND NO ROPE ALLOWED! Only a paper clips chain!

Cochise Stronghold lends itself to slinging horns/chickenheads. Knots are a last resort, I think it is used by Czechs and Germans in the sandstone areas to preserve the rock. Use nuts instead.

Coconuts and apricots, with the occasional mars bar as a big bro

Well, after reading up on that area, I didn't find anything mentioning specific gear requiremetns. Then again, babelfish isn't the best German language translator.

Thanks for the info.

Coffee mugs. Nice chocking effect, and a hanger pre-attached!
